Cardiff (Caerdydd)

Heddiw gwnaem 'n 'n flaen bagia i mewn i Cymru a gofwyedig 'r Ddoctory A arddangos i mewn Caerdydd.

And if you can not speak Welsh you just have to read the English translation provided as a public convenience. Now, we were of course aware that Welsh is spoken in Wales but we were not prepared for all road signs being written in both English and Welsh and we were only an hour and a half from home. We really did feel we were in another country.

Today we made our first visit into Wales and visited the Doctor Who exhibit in Cardiff. There were many of the original costumes from the latest series on display as well as an assortment of villains. It was very well done and even Abbey, who has no idea who Doctor Who is, got into the action.





On returning to planet Wales, we had a wander around the docks on Cardiff Bay and took a ferry cruise around the Bay itself. It was freezing but the kids both enjoyed the trip.

After the cruise we continued our wanderings and Zac was pleased to find the church where Raold Dahl was baptised. We were also very impressed by a memorial to fallen merchant seaman (the picture of the face sculpture below) which from one side looked like the hull of a ship and the other a face.

As we were in Wales we decided on a traditional lunch - well, not really, unless you consider a buffet that wasn't sure if it was Chinese, Japanese, Indian or Italian as traditional. It was actually quite nice and suited Zac's appetite just fine.
