This has been an action packed week for the kids so far and it is only Wednesday!
The week started with Abbey and I spending time at the park near the school killing time before Zac's swimming gala. Abbey was keen to show off the skills she has acquired during her visits to the park with her Nursery class. Yes, it was another fantastically warm day and it was great to take the time out to enjoy the sunshine.

By 11am it was time to head indoors to the swimming centre for the Heywood swimming gala. This was Zac's first exposure to 'competitive' swimming but it seems all those years of swimming lessons paid off with him winning all three of his races against the other boys in his class (all 3 of them!) I think it did help to have a slight height advantage and feet like flippers but that said he did a marvelous job and won top points for his school team the Danes.

The Danes ended up winning the gala quite convincingly and Zac was rightly proud of his results.
Wednesday saw yet another sunny day (we are trying not to become accustomed to this!) and the whole school headed to a local park for a charity sponsored walk. It was the first time both Zac and Abbey have been involved in the same event which was very exciting for them. I spent the time trying to keep up with Abbey who was bent on trying to break a land speed record. I think I was one of the few mums who actually had to run. Abbey blitzed the rest of the Nursery group with her 14 laps! Zac also proved his fitness looking much sharper than the rest of the field. It was a fantastic afternoon with all the kids enjoying a well earned ice cream at the end.

Having both put in a mammoth effort I decided a treat was in order and we stopped at a local farm shop for afternoon tea. Neston Park proved a real hit with Zac who was visiting for the first time unlike his sister who is lucky enough to pop in with mum every now and then. As well as selling fresh local produce and doing great coffees the kids could also look at the animals and explore the local woodlands on a nature trail.
