With temperatures barely reaching above freezing for near on a week, it was not really surprising that Saturday afternoon it began to snow. It started just as the kids arrived home from their sleep over and by the time Nathan and Abbey headed off to a birthday party at 1530 it was really coming down.
During the few hours they were away, the neighbourhood was transformed into a winter wonderland.
Unfortunately, overnight it started to rain melting some of the snow and leaving roads and paths dangerously icy. There was still enough left however to make our Sunday mornings walk just a little bit special. The kids had a ball tramping through the snowdrifts but the highlight was definitely the frozen duck ponds just behind our estate. The ice was thick enough to stand on though we did draw the line at Abbey’s request for ice-skating! Instead, Nathan and Zac broke off huge chunks, which were then skidded along the surface of the frozen ponds – hours of fun for children of all ages!
