Far from having to drag the kids to school on a Saturday morning, they were ready and raring to go, keen to join the Open Day fun. Abbey spent most of the morning in the art room creating some ‘interesting’ clay models which, when dry, will no doubt adorn our new house. Zac, now being one of the senior students (you can tell by the trousers!) was tasked with showing people around the school. He took to his role of host with great enthusiasm but, when he pointed out to one family that he had joined Heywood in Year Three from Australia, they were quick to point out that he has definitely lost his Aussie accent!
By some minor miracle the morning remained bright and sunny so the kids hit the playing field to fly the kites they had been preparing the week before. It was very entertaining to watch as kids ran in every direction resulting in kite lines getting tangled and kites caught up in branches. Nathan came in very handy both as an assistant launcher and in a search and rescue capacity retrieving quite a few kites stranded in the trees.

Thank you for the Open Day Blog. Really lovely. Zac does scrub up well and Abbey does too. She seems to fit in very well with the boys.
