Entertaining the Natives

Having now officially been abroad for 6 months we felt it was time to hold a little get together with the 'natives' to thank them for their kind welcome and support.

With this in mind Nathan put together a heartfelt invitation:

" Not only does the Australian Government let us live here but they also expect us to integrate with the natives. They have conducted a cultural assessment and determined that whilst in the past the provision of shiny beads and blankets may have sufficed, it is now best to provide free food and drinks..."

Amazingly people took us up on this kind offer so we ended up with a houseful one sunny Saturday afternoon. The mix included work colleagues, neighbours and school friends and we were amazed with how many people we actually know quite well already.

To make life easier (and because the Government were contributing to the bill) we ordered in and so the only stress for the afternoon was the fact that the food arrived only half an hour before the guests! Once I had calmed down from this all went very smoothly and there was plenty of food and drink to go around. The kids had an absolute ball playing backyard soccer and making great use of the trampoline whilst the adults were able to take in the sunshine (yes, not exactly summer temps but very pleasant all the same).

View from above, quite a yard full!
