Spring Term Awards

An end of term tradition at the children’s school is the awarding of books and trophies to top performing members of each year level. The award categories differ depending on the year with most of the trophies having been donated by previous families associated with the school. It is a really lovely idea as the children get to keep the trophy for the term before it is handed on to the next winner.

When Nathan and I arrived at school for a noon pickup on Friday we saw Mrs Merritt herding her class outside for some photos of the winners of the Reception awards. Three awards were available: books with certificates were awarded for progress and merit and an enormous trophy and certificate was awarded to the student who made the most effort throughout the term. Low and behold, who should come around the corner toting a trophy almost too heavy for her to carry but our Abbey! I have never seen her looking so proud. She is still constantly taking the trophy down to cradle and talk about all the things she must have done well to deserve it and it is always a constant surprise to her that she could possibly have done something so wonderful. We, of course, were not surprised at all.

One very proud little girl

One proud moment was very soon followed by another as Zac (last term’s winner of the History award) emerged carrying the trophy for Year 4 Progress. The smile on his face told the whole story and he had every right to be proud.

All in all, a fantastic end to the Spring Term for the Robb family!
