After a relatively late
night for the kids following Zac’s Christmas concert it was somewhat difficult
rousing them from bed this morning.
It took the prospect of a cooked hotel breakfast to finally shift the
balance in our favour. I do
believe both Zac and Abbey have become a little too used to having breakfast
out with the two of them quite confident with choosing and ordering as if it
was the most natural thing to do.
We headed out of the hotel
just before 0830 into another very brisk and frosty morning and we were at
school in just a few short minutes – one could really get used to this
commute! With the kids safely delivered,
Nathan and I were scraping ice off the car and heading back to the house to
collect the ‘small’ pile of rubbish and recycling left behind. Poor Nathan nearly lost use of his
hands to frost bite dismantling the outside tent whilst I tried to leave the
white goods, which came with the house, in good order for our hand over
tomorrow. (Truth be told,
everything was probably a lot cleaner than when we moved in!)
Excitingly, our next port of
call was the recycling centre – a cold, bleak, dirty place (most definitely a
man’s job!!) By 1100 we were
safely back at the hotel where Nathan freshened himself up before heading back
out into the cold to catch a bus into Bath. Yes, he would be deserting the rest
of his family to our own devices whilst he kicked up his heels at his work
Christmas party (Anyone want to lay bets on the chance of him hitting his head
when he stumbles in tonight!)
I had a rather relaxing
afternoon catching up on blogs before picking my two and Freddie up from
school. We spent an hour or so in
the hotel room before grabbing an early dinner (Italian again –hey, it was the
only thing open!). Tonight Zac and
Freddie had to be back at school for 1800 as the Year 6 class were acting as
narrator’s for the Nursery Christmas play. According to Zac, the Year 6 kids do all the work whilst the
Nursery kids simply stand there and look cute! It seems Zac was right on the mark though the
youngsters did finally come into their own towards the end of the evening
singing some simply gorgeous Christmas inspired songs.
We next dropped off both
Freddie and a bag of washing stopping at the Peach residence for a nightcap
with both them and us keen to spend as much time together as possible before
D-Day on Saturday. Needless to
say, Zac had Abbey didn’t take much rocking to sleep by the time we finally
made it back to the hotel.
At around 2130 Nathan
eventually found his way home and, needless to say, he needed no rocking
either!! The jury is still out as
to whether he managed to make it to bed without hitting his head but, as the
next day he showed no outwards sign of damage, we will give him the benefit of
the doubt. The jury though is
perfectly unanimous in declaring he obviously had a very good time!!
I think you will have to continue this as both you and I will have Blog withdrawal if you don't!
